APC states’ governments okay onslaughts against secessionists, bandits, kidnappers

The 22 All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled states have expressed support for the ongoing onslaught against secessionists and other criminal elements in the country.

The APC states, at their 12th quarterly meeting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, declared open by Governor Abdullahi Sule, argued that the measure was in the best interest of the country.

At the parley attended by their respective Secretaries to the State Governments (SSG), they reaffirmed the commitment of APC state governments to continue to work with the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that every part of Nigeria is safe.

The state governments in the communique jointly signed by Dr Salihu Moh. Lukman, the Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), and Mr. Muhammad Ubandoma Aliyu, the SSG Nasarawa State, pledged to strengthen regular processes of information sharing on issues of security management to facilitate synergy of initiatives and proactive responses.

The APC states also resolved to strengthen the security committees at the local councils and ensure that all stakeholders, especially traditional and religious, take more responsibility and are made to be more accountable to the government in responding to security challenges.  

The APC controlled states further resolved to prioritise adequate support for working nursing mothers, including the adoption of six months maternity leave for nursing mothers to enhance Exclusive Breast Feeding (EBF).

It added: “Issues of maternal and child nutrition should be integrated into the Primary Healthcare Delivery Services. APC controlled states would strengthen coordination of initiatives to fast track implementation of maternal and child nutrition programmes with a focus on health, education and agricultural sectors.”
