Alleged wife killer, Olalekan Shonde, who is currently facing trial over the death of his wife, Ronke Shonde, may have to spend another two weeks in Ikoyi Prison as an Ebute-Metta Chief Magistrate Court, sitting at Oyingbo yesterday, ordered that he should be remanded till July 8, 2016, pending when the matter will come up for mentioning.
Lekan Shonde, 51, a dockworker, in the charge sheet, allegedly murdered his wife, Ronke, 37, on May 5, 2016, at their residence, 3, Tiemo Street, Egbeda, Lagos.
According to the police, the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state 2011.
Shonde had earlier denied killing his wife when he was first brought before the court, saying, “I did not kill her”.

When the matter was called for hearing yesterday, the prosecuting officer, Chinalu Nwadione, an inspector, informed the court that he had received a copy of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
