Bishop of the Diocese of Evo (Anglican Communion), Rivers State, The Rt. Rev. Innocent Ordu has decried the state of affairs in the country and called on the Federal Government to address the issues, to restore peace, unity, progress and security in Nigeria.

Ordu, who spoke during his Synod address, themed: “Do not be weary in well-going,” held at All Saints Cathedral, Rumuokwurusi, Port Harcourt, recently, lamented that “Evils that other nations abhor, Nigeria has become notorious for condoning them.”

He listed such ills to include social injustice, nepotism, ethnicity, sectionalism, religiosity devoid of true godliness, militancy, banditry and unknown gunmen. Others are kidnapping, emergence of separatist and secessionist movements, insensitive leadership and genocide against Christian communities, among others.

The cleric wants both the government and concerned Nigerians to address these issues in a godly manner, so that everyone will be happy and proud to be a Nigerian.

On the conditions in Rivers State, Ordu said within six years of Governor Nyesom Wike’s administration, the state had witnessed completion and commissioning of diverse impactful projects across all sectors in the 23 local councils.

Enjoining Wike not to grow weary in well-doing, Ordu said: “We will continue to uphold him, his family and administration in our prayers.”

The Bishop urged Christians, especially Evo Diocese faithful to continue doing good, and acts of mercy and charity, no matter the frustrations they may encounter.

The Synod, which ended with a Thanksgiving service, was attended by many dignitaries, including the Most Rev. Blessing Enyindah, Archbishop of the Province of Niger Delta, other Bishops and politicians, among others.
