This followed the recent attack on their host community.
The Manager of Abagana IDP camp, Mr. Iliagh Terhile, while speaking to newsmen at the camp yesterday, expressed disgust that since the last attack on the camp, which claimed seven, the inmates have been living in fear.
According to Terhile, after that incident, some of the IDPs fled the camp to other places, but were forced to return to the camp due to starvation and lack of accommodation in the city.
He maintained that the siting of a police post at the camp would dispel the fears and enable police officers to respond swiftly in case of any emergency.
His words: “The security of the camp is not guaranteed. We want government to site security outfit close to the camp. I sleep here in the camp, but we have not been sleeping peacefully.”
On reports that IDP camps across the country would be closed anytime soon, Terhule said: “The decision to close IDPs camps is a complex one, particularly when the security in their ancestral homes is not yet guaranteed.”
