• Serve selflessly, Olopade urges politicians

Dignitaries, family, friends and associates, including former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku poured encomiums on renowned structural engineer, Chief Jonathan Adio Obafemi Olopade during an event to mark his 90th birthday.

The occasion also witnessed the launch of his two books In the Corridors, (an autobiography) and Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba for all Seasons and Citizens.

Chief Anyaoku, chairman of the event, who described Olopade as a true and remarkable Nigerian who is a true believer in oneness of the country, remarked that his book on Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba makes a point about the importance of the unity of the country inspite of its diversities.

“More attention must be given to the teaching and learning of our languages, we must do more in the education ministry to promote their sustenance, because we must not allow any of our languages to die,” Anyaoku said.

Reviewing the 340-page book titled In the Corridors, Deputy Chief Coordinator of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Mr. Ayodele Aderinwale described the author as an intriguing personality who through an alignment of stars finds himself in the midst of most controversial personalities in Africa.

“The taste of pudding is in the eating. As I read through the book, my first point of comment is that the simplicity of language employed by the author makes the book interesting to read. In The Corridors is an autobiography of Chief Jonathan Adio Obafemi Olopade, (a.ka) Fine boy.”
