The Commandant, Ibrahim Dahiru, stated this while presenting the review of the commission activities in 2021 to newsmen in Dutse.
During the period under review, the commission, he explained, reconciled 3,579 cases involving couples and 221 involving parents and their children.
The commandant also revealed that the commission managed and settled 71 cases between farmers and herders, which consequently helped in averting bloody clashes in the affected areas.
“Other cases we handled in the year included 41 disagreement/debt between traders and 319 neighbours’ disputes,” he added.
He maintained that reconciliation helps in conflict resolution and peacebuilding among people and that avoiding unnecessary litigation saves resources and time.
Ibrahim assured the general public that the commission is always ready to entertain any complaint and broker peace to ensure equity and justice among all.
According to him, the commission is there for every member of society. “Our cardinal objective is to foster peace through social justice and discourage social vices/criminal activities to ensure crime-free society.”
