Abia governor bans solidarity visits
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has banned solidarity visits to Government House, Umuahia in respect of the gubernatorial debacle between him and Dr. Uche Ogah.
Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja had recently ordered the swearing in of Ogah as the state’s chief executive, saying the current occupant submitted forged tax papers during the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) primary election.
He, therefore, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a fresh Certificate of Return to Ogah who came second at the exercise.
But in a statement yesterday in Umuahia by his Chief Press Secretary, Enyi Appolos, the governor, while commending the citizens for their support thus far, urged them to be more prayerful so that the courts could reaffirm his election.
Ikpeazu said the backing makes him more determined to serve the people better, urging his opponents to join him in moving the state forward.
