Nwosu tasks Adamu on uniting APC factions ahead of primary

Uche Nwosu
Again, All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and former governorship candidate in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, has charged the new leadership of the party to urgently unite all states factions ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Nwosu, who commended the emergence of the Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee (NWC), cautioned the party’s leadership against pitching tent with any particular camp, but ensure that the party was genuinely united.

He said the next phase of the electoral process, which is the election of candidates in the primary was more delicate than electing its leadership at the convention.

“Harmonisation is key and I think what the new leadership under Adamu should do is to first reconcile all the factions in the states after which we can have a united party and then we can move into the 2023 general elections, which include the sale and buying of nomination forms and primary. Therefore, the most important thing is reconciliation.

“Also, the new leadership should avoid pitching its tent with a particular camp, harmonisation is key, wherever they have court cases or judgment, such rulings should be obeyed and if the different factions want to settle out of court that will be better for us.

“After that we divide the structure and we have a better and united APC, but once they fail to reconcile the factions and we go into primary, we cannot compare the presidential, House of Assembly or Senatorial primary to the national convention.

“In fact, because electing party leaders are not the same with electing candidates, especially the presidential candidate. The new leadership has a serious task, but I trust Adamu to do justice to that,” he said.

On the ability of the new APC leadership to meet the yearnings of party members, Nwosu expressed confidence that Adamu has what it takes to deliver.

He said Adamu is a no-nonsense person right from when he was minister to when he was governor of Nasarawa State, adding that he is not somebody that would hijack the structure at the national and in state levels.

“Adamu is a man of integrity, who won’t be sentimental in resolving political issues and so the best they can do is to reconcile all groups in the party, after which we can have a united APC,” he stated.

On the lingering crisis in the Imo State chapter of the party, Nwosu said the best option is for the Governor Hope Uzodimma and Rochas Okorocha’s camps and that of Ifeanyi Ararume to reconcile.

“If they miss this opportunity, it will be a serious issue in Imo State in 2023, because all the groups will remain divided and will be acting at cross purposes,” he added.
