The Nigeria Medical Student Association (NIMSA), recently organised a one-week training for student leaders across Nigerian universities. Tagged, Project Pulse, the programme aimed at training and equipping undergraduates on safety and various life-saving skills for quick response to emergency situations.

According to the NIMSA director, Boris Nwachukwu, 25 students were selected across Nigerian universities based on their past works and projects as a student’s leaders. “Management of emergency conditions and emergency response is a very important aspect that all Nigerian youth need to learn.

We saw this aspect as something lacking in our society, which made us invite experts from the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to train students on relevant skills to tackle such conditions.”
