Although the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, officials of the Ikeja and Alausa Fire stations waded into the situation with other emergency responders to put out the raging fire.
Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said no casualty was recorded in the incident.

She said: “ The incident which was alerted through the State’s Command and Control portal on Sunday at 03:37, saw the Ikeja and Alausa Fire stations responding with backup from other emergency responders due to the intensity and nature of the combustible materials involved in the fire.”
A resident, Babatunde Abiola, who reacted through his Facebook page, said the fire was as a result of sabotage by unknown groups and would soon be exposed.
“Some groups are deliberately causing these infernos in this country. And God will expose them soon and create their own hell fire for them,” he said.
Another resident, Aluka Sesughba, said: “The market is too fetish and that is the root cause of the fire. Believe me or not.”
Ricketts Oluwarotim stated that Nigerians must watch out for hoodlums who want to cause havoc in the country at this time.
“Nigerians, especially Lagosians, must always be at alert. The forces of evil and their errand boys, are spying everywhere, even in all Local Councils, Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) and remote areas. God will surely frustrate and expose all their evil plans. What is happening in the Southeast and middle belt are pointers. Things are getting out of control,” he said.
