Diaspora group roots for Amaechi presidency in 2023

The Diaspora Leadership Alliance has called on Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to the 2023 presidential election, describing him as the man Nigeria needs at this moment to tackle insecurity, poverty and other challenges facing the country.

The group stressed that for the most populous black nation to catch up with the rest of the world in terms of infrastructure and development, Amaechi should be encouraged and supported to give the presidency a shot.

The leader, Christopher Ogonna, in a statement, said the group after conducting research on many aspirants in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties, had come to the conclusion that Amaechi, being a detrabilised Nigerian, has potentials and expertise to promote unity and peace among the various ethnic groups to usher in the needed economic development.

To take advantage of what the 2023 general elections hold, the group insisted that Nigeria must seek common ground concerning broad national issues on a bipartisan basis, not based on personalities or geopolitical zones, tribes or factions.

It maintained that there is need “to quickly replace the politics of impressions and personalities with politics of issues and ideas, as the common ground must be based on a dispassionate grasp of national problems rooted with years of extensive and verifiable experience.”

The group stated: “Nigeria needs a detribalised, firm and effective leader. This is why upon examining the political landscape of the country, we have identified the current Minister of Transportation as one, who is fit to take over the mantle of leadership from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

“Amaechi stands out in many regards, especially when you take a critical look at his numerous achievements when he held sway as Governor of Rivers State and his current assignment as Minister of Transportation.

“He remains our preferred choice because he is the best person for the job based on his relevant qualifications, dedication to duty, energy, age, fitness and people-centered policies.”
