Gunmen have hijacked a commercial passenger bus and abducted the passengers in Rivers State.
It was gathered that the bus was loaded with passengers, who were suspected to be travelling to Akuku-Toru Local Council of the state.
A source, who spoke to The Guardian yesterday, said the hoodlums struck on Monday at about 7:30p.m.
The source said the bus was attacked around Ahiankwo market on the Emohua-Kalabari road and was heading to the riverine area from Port Harcourt.
Contacted, the Acting Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the development, said eight passengers were kidnapped from the attacked Opel bus.
She said: “An Opel bus was attacked and eight passengers were kidnapped. We have mobilised to ensure that the victims are released unhurt.”
