Abia State government has inaugurated an inter-ministerial Task Force of the Ministries of Transport and Trade/Investments to sanitise  Osisioma Flyover and interchange as well as rid them of street trading, illegal motor parks and touting.

The Task Force is to oversee the maintenance of order within Flyovers and their environs, and return them to a status befitting  Aba, the commercial city of Abia.

Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief John Kalu and his  Transport  counterpact, Chief Godswill Nwanoruo, stated that  the task force  was created on  the directive of Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu .

While inaugurating the Committee, which has Chief Amanna Nwaogu as its chairman, they noted that the Flyover at Osisioma up to Express Road junction axis of Ariaria International market is neither a motor park nor a market.

They urged the task force to ensure that there is no street trading within that area.

“We must end the practice where our roads are taken over by street traders and converted to illegal motor parks by individuals and commercial drivers,” the Commissioners added.

Responding, chairman of the task force, Chief Amanna Nwaogu promised to enforce the mandate assigned to members, noting that they would  work beyond work/business hours  to ensure total success with zero tolerance to failure.
