Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, yesterday, urged all political players in the state to join him in ensuring that the forthcoming governorship election is peaceful and violence-free.
Oyetola gave this charge during a meeting with members of the state chapter of Beer Sellers Association of Nigeria in Osogbo yesterday.
The governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Mr. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said the state had been known for peace and he would not allow anything to change the trend.
Oyetola said the election should not be a do-or-die affair, imploring his co-contestants to operate within the ambit of the law during campaigns.
MEANWHILE, the governor has urged the association not to allow criminals to turn their relaxation centres to hideout as the election is fast-approaching.
He said it behoves on owners of relaxation outlets to be very vigilant and report strange movements and suspicious faces to security men without considering patronage and profit.
