.Accusation spurious, malicious, says Ajayi
.Why will Asiwaju offer Ajayi N10,000 bribe, for what purpose, by Oladejo
.Adediran is the best PDP can use to win Lagos in 2023, says Pearse
The Convener, Lagos4Lagos Movement, Dr Abdul Azeez Olajide Adediran, aka Jandor, who recently defected from the ruling Lagos chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has fired the chairman of the group, Prince Sunday Ajayi, over alleged N100 million bribe he (Ajayi) was said to have collected from the National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu, to infiltrate and destabilise the movement ahead of the 2023 governorship election.
Adediran in a statement accused Ajayi as a double agent in Lagos4Lagos and therefore deserves to be fired.
Jandor, a gubernatorial aspirant under the Lagos PDP platform for 2023, said he was left with no choice than to approve the recommendation of the Apex body of the movement to boot Ajayi out as chairman, following allegations of serial improprieties including reportedly collecting N100m bribe from Tinubu to incite members to return to the APC.
It would be recalled that Jandor, with his huge followership, broke away from the APC and moved enmasse to the PDP on January 21, 2022 at an elaborate ceremony attended by key personalities of the PDP.
Jandor’s movement away from the ruling party has resulted into a beehive of positive activities within the PDP, strongly signifying that the clouds are gathering in favor of the opposition party as they set to oust the APC come 2023.
Following these developments, investigation revealed that series of plans have been hatched to ensure Jandor’s name does not appear on the ballot paper for the Lagos governorship election next year. One of these plots is the infiltration of his top team, of which Prince Ajayi was a vital member. Besides the bribery allegation, the erstwhile chairman is also alleged to have been holding secret meetings with emissaries of the APC and had commenced a botched mission to cajole members of the movement to return to APC.
Jandor noted that many who were conversant with Ajayi’s ways were less surprised that the embattled former chairman of the movement allegedly sold out since he has the trait of selling out to highest political bidders.
Jandor however says he is unruffled by the development as he has prepared himself to expect anything. “This is not the first attempt by the ruling APC to infiltrate our ranks and I don’t expect it will be the last. We are well prepared for possible uncanny events such as this, we won’t be distracted from our focus, we will keep on keeping on till we achieve our goal of rescuing Lagos from their stranglehold come 2023,” he said.
MEANWHILE, Ajayi dismissed the allegation as spurious and malicious.
In his reaction during a telephone conversation with The Guardian this morning, Ajayi said, “My attention has been drawn to a malicious statement by Jandor claiming that I collected N100 million from Tinubu.
“Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have dignified a man whose life has been shrouded in controversy with an answer, but for the benefit of the general public and the undiscerning members of the movement, who have been blindfolded by the shenanigans of a man whose dubious lifestyle of scavenging for funds is known to the people.
“For the records, I, Hon. Prince Sunday Ajayi, withdrew from the activities of Lagos4Lagos because of the questionable character and draconian lifestyle of Jandor. For someone to accuse me of collecting money from a man I have not spoken to or interacted with in the last three years shows the level of insanity and shallowness of a confused human being.
“I am indeed grateful that I saw this coming as I was warned severally that Jandor had an ugly past, which he has guarded jealously and usually fights anyone who would oppose his style and actions.
“I dare Jandor to show proof of receipt of such transaction between me and Bola Tinubu, failure upon, which I will have no choice but to institute a legal action against him.
“For clarity, Jandor’s latest action is borne out of the frustration he has met in his fruitless quest to get the PDP’s gubernatorial ticket that was already placed out of his reach from the word go.
“It would be interesting for the world to see the face of a liar called Jandor. It’s better for him to come out clean on how his arrogant lifestyle has led 70 per cent of the movement to leave Lagos4Lagos.
“He is a complete fraud that the Lagos PDP should be careful of if they intend to get any credibility.”
Spokesman of Lagos APC, Mr. Seye Oladejo dismissed the allegation that Tinubu offered N100 million bribe to Ajayi to infiltrate Lagos4Lagos Movement.
According to him, “What’s the political relevance of Ajayi in the first instance that would have warranted Tinubu to offer him N10,000 not to talk of N100 million.
“It is true that many of the members of Lagos4Lagos, who erroneously followed Jandor to PDP are retracing their steps back to APC ‘voluntarily’ and not by inducement. The movement is on a free fall.”
There are indications that Jandor is gradually getting the confidence of major stakeholders in the Lagos PDP as one of the party’s leading members, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearce, is set to join others to endorse him (Jandor) as the choice gubernatorial candidate tomorrow (Thursday).
In a message yesterday, Pearse said, “Please join me at a ‘Jandor for governor endorsement session on Thursday April 21 2022.”
Although there are five major Lagos PDP gubernatorial aspirants, Wale Gomez, who was said to have dropped out, immediate past State chairman of the party, Ade Doherty, former Director General NIMASA, Dr Ade Dosunmu the convener of Lagos4Lagos movement appears to stand a better chance.
According to Pearse, “Since Gomez has left the race, Doherty and Dosunmu are the two strong aspirants in the race but unfortunately the two of them are from the same camp in the party with the current state chairman, Philips Aivoji and they will automatically divide their votes in the primary.
“Secondly, Doherty has been contesting the primary since 2007 and it appears he cannot get it. Dosunmu on his part was the party’s candidate in 2011 and to me he didn’t really look like someone that can win Lagos for PDP.
“The only person that has that strong force is Jandor. For instance look at the numbers of PDP governors that graced his defection to PDP including the National Chairman, Iyochia Ayu? I encourage other stakeholders to back Jandor if we really want to win Lagos next year.’
