Commercial bus driver kidnapped along the Emuoha/Kalabari road has regained freedom with three of his passengers, after ten days in captivity.
The driver, who spoke on a popular radio station, Naija Info 92.3, in Port Harcourt, monitored by The Guardian, explained how the gunmen hijacked his bus.
He said the kidnappers laid ambush somewhere along the road.
“The next thing I saw was some boys coming out with guns and shooting into the air. That was how I applied the brakes.

“They hijacked the bus and took us inside a bush. We were altogether eight in number. It was only seven of us they took inside the bush,” he stated.
The driver further explained that of the seven people, three people were freed earlier, while others were dragged in to the bush.
“They were taking us from one camp to the other. We stayed there for two days and then trekked to another place. We were trekking till we got to East-West road, where they released us,” he said.
He said the kidnappers told them they resorted to wicked acts because the government stopped them from their illegal bunkering business.
Contacted, the acting spokesperson for the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed their release.
“Yes, they have been released. They were rescued with the efforts of the police, “ she said.
