The last few years have brought dramatic changes to peoples’ lifestyles due to the pandemic and travel restrictions. People were also looking for new interests . To while away all time available during the covid-19 lockdown, people wanted to get back to nature, the easiest way, which gardening provided.

People started working from home. Necessity created home offices. When covid-19 restrictions were lifted, the necessity of a home office suddenly became a convenience. Now, we are health conscious, knowing the many benefits of plants, not just as beautiful decorative items of nature, which they are, but also possessing many more qualities for our good and well being.

Nature around us shouldn’t make a difference, that is why miniature gardens come in. The term miniature garden is an all-encompassing phrase for any small-sized garden, living or artificial. It can be as big as a small backyard or as small a thimble-sized terrarium.

Dish garden, tray gardening, windowsill gardening, tea cup gardening, terrarium, vivarum, and Wardian cases are all types of miniature gardens. But, they are not literally a living garden in miniature.

But my focus is living miniature garden as that can be enjoyed by all gardeners space or no space. The definition of a miniature garden is the perfection of tiny tree, plant , landscaping and garden accessories that are in scale with one another to create a lasting living gardening scenes or vignette. I like miniature garden of unique plants and landscapes, that do not require much attention especially for the indoor spaces. creating a desertscape with cacti (very dry soil) hoya and succulent (not so dry soil), or chipboard on the wall with Tillandsia (airplants).

They could also be planted in decorative dishes on flat surface or in hanging glass vase. While your desertscape miniature garden requires much light, your airplants will thrive in low light condition. Both gardens require little watering. African violets on the other hand requires moist soil.
