The books focusing on the real estate sector tend to address the challenges by providing solutions
to common technicalities and complications in the real estate practice.
The event, held Lagos recently, drew men and women from all walks of life including top government officials, captains of industries, lawyers, investors and practitioners among others.
Speaking on the books, Williams-Joel, who is also the Senior Partner of Prince Joel & Associates, said, “The first book title, ‘Understanding Your Rights As A Tenant/Landlord Under The Nigerian Law’ is basically to equip the citizens to know their rights.
“Considering how you are, either a landlord or a tenant, it is important that everyone knows his or her rights as this would not only help decongest the issues between landlords and tenants. If you go to courts today, there are numerous landlord/tenant cases, and one of the parties is always a victim. So, the book is to educate Nigerians about the obligations and duties of each party. A society that is not educated is defunct.
“A lot of people fall, victim of property purchase, because they fail to do the needful which is due diligence. For this to happen there are basic approaches and strategies to use and this is what the book is about. It also goes further down to jurisdictional issues – looking at different parameters in acquiring properties in states within the country as each jurisdiction comes with different structural and fundamental due diligence approaches.

“The third book is an online work, ‘Compilation Of Articles On Law & Property In Nigeria Simplified,’ which I have been doing since 2016. I have done over 200 articles and I had to put them together so that people can read and understand the real estate space. As a matter of fact I call it the real estate bible for every real estate practitioner, government, students, judges and the public, who are interested in investing in real estate.”
On the launch of the books, he said, “I suppose it came from my bitter experience in the industry. I have been beaten and this made me vowed to go all out and educate Nigerians on law and property. It’s my passion and I do it across the country. So, I consider these books timeless for every investor, lawyer, surveyor and consumer. You cannot go wrong in real estate, as it is the new oil.”
Barr. Henry Fomah and Barr. Imran Shitta-Bey, who commended the author, encouraged potential real estate stakeholders and investors to purchase copies of the books.
Imran Shitta-Bey described the author William-Joel as an emerging quintessential authority on land transactions for the avoidance of pitfalls within the Nigerian real estate industry.
Among notable dignitaries present at the launch was the Chairman, Property World Africa Network (PWAN) group, Dr. Augustine Onwumere, who also commended the author and encouraged to release of more books as it addresses major challenges experienced in real estate practice.
