A group, under the auspices of Obowians in Diaspora Association (OIDA), in an open letter to Governor Hope Uzodimma, recently, stated that they would resist any plot to get Ibe re-elected, describing it as unjust, insensitive, unacceptable and disastrous.
But in a release made available to The Guardian, on Monday, two of the kinsmen, whose names were listed as signatories in the report, Mr. Atulegwu Adindu and Mrs. Christian Opara, said they were not consulted over the report.
Adindu and Opara, who described the report as malicious, fraudulent and unfounded, said it was a calculated attempt to malign their individual image and destabilise the existing political peace in their community.
According to them, the publication, tagged, ‘an open letter to the Imo governor,’ was fraudulently signed with their names as the general secretary and Public Relations Officer (PRO) of OIDA.
Their words: “The opinions expressed in the said publication were those of the authors and impostors; they do not reflect our opinions and views on the political nature of Obowo and APC Leadership.
“Therefore, we are writing this disclaimer to disassociate ourselves and that of our families from these fraudulent publications and any politician whatsoever.”
While insisting that the publications were made to the detriment of their personal reputation, honesty and integrity, they demanded a public apology from the authors of the publications within 48 hours, through the channel they pushed out the publication.
