The incident, which occurred at about 8.00 a.m. along Zango-Lokoja road, left two other riders of the motorcycle seriously injured.
An eyewitness, Mike Adejoh, who condemned the recklessness of the truck driver, said there was tension at the scene of the accident as a mob tried to set fire to the truck, but for the quick intervention of security operatives around.
He said the truck driver ran away from the scene as good Samaritans with the help of the police, rushed the injured to Falvares Hospital Zango for medical attention.
The remains of the young girl, simply called Bola, were left at the scene of the incident for some time, until the arrival of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials, who picked them to the mortuary.
“The driver was at high speed and unfortunately crushed the commercial motorcycle, which led to the death of the innocent girl and the injury of the rider and another.
“Immediately he (driver) realised what he did, he came down and took to his heels and escaped, “ he said.
When contacted, the Kogi Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP), William Ovye-Aya, confirmed the incident.
He said the investigation into the cause of the accident has commenced.
The state’s FRSC Sector Commander, Mr. Stephen Dawulung, also confirmed the incident. He said his men had deposited the remains of the teenager at the Federal Medical Centre’s mortuary.
