Oyo State government has reiterated its commitment towards enforcing the state’s law against indiscriminate heaping of refuse in open space.
The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Abiodun Oni, said the new initiative was conceived to actualise the vision of keeping the state clean, while also harnessing opportunities inherent in proper waste management system. “We are tired of using the same approach without getting results,” he stated.
According to him, the State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of a new Waste Management Consultant, Mottainai Recycling Africa, to see to the day-to-day running of the disposal mechanism in the state.
He assured residents that the government is taking holistic measures to ensure that the state experiences a turn-around in the environmental sector.
Oni implored traders to improve sanitation within their environment, calling on the traders to remain law abiding and be peaceful when carrying out their legitimate businesses.
He stated that the present administration was committed at maintaining and sustaining the state ecosystem towards ensuring a clean and green environment that would be attractive to investors.
