Ahead of the 2023 general elections, stakeholders have called on youths not to give up on their political ambitions to take over leadership positions in the country.

The call came amid concerns that no youth was elected as a presidential candidate of any of the 18 political parties in the presidential primary conducted across the country.

The stakeholders, who made the call, yesterday, in Abuja, at “This Generation Conference 2022”, a yearly project of Buildman Leadership Foundation, the development arm of The Summit Bible Church,” described the development as worrisome.

They also maintained that the poor economy was responsible for the high number of youths leaving the country.

Speaking at the conference, former Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Binta Masi Garba, encouraged youths to shun what she described as unhealthy competition among youth groups in places of worship.

She said: “Young aspirants should not give up. Like me, if I had given up, I would not have been what I am today. Politicians will give you offers to destroy your political career, don’t take.…”

She charged youths to be good ambassadors for Christ, like the Biblical Daniel and John the Baptist, who against all odds, spoke the truth to powers.

Also, the Executive Director, Young Aspirants Leadership Fellowship, Kingsley Bangwell, said the conference was to assist in capacity-building and give opportunities to young people to thrive in their endeavours.

“We’re looking for leaders who can solve our problems. We want leaders who understand what the problem is, who can solve it. We need leaders that can do things right,” he said.
