Delta State Police Command said it has waded into the abduction of a couple and a child by unknown gunmen on Sunday.
Sources said they were kidnapped at a popular supermarket along the police station road, while purchasing goods.
According to sources, the victims were abducted at about 8:20p.m. in Abraka town, Ethiope East Local Council of Delta State.
The Guardian learnt that the kidnappers stormed the community in a Sienna car, shooting sporadically to scare passers-by, thereby giving room for easy access to whisk the victims away.
The hoodlums shot at them, and sped off with their victims to an unknown destination.
Contacted, spokesperson for the Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bright Edafe confirmed the incident.
He said: “Investigation is ongoing on the matter, but we cannot tell whether it was a kidnapping or conspiracy case for now, because in less than a minute, the man was released, while the wife and child were held hostage.”
