Fear grips Rivers residents over discovery of corpse in shallow grave


Fear has gripped residents of Rumuosi community in Obio/Akpor Local Council of Rivers State over the discovery of a lifeless body of a yet-to-be-identified man in a shallow grave at a farm close to a defunct Syringe factory in the area.
 
The Guardian learnt that a farmer had on Wednesday, while working  on the farm, saw the partly buried naked body and raised  the alarm.
   
According to a resident the deceased is average in height and in his 40s or 50s. The resident noted that the Police had deposited the corpse in the morgue while encouraging members of the public to come to  Choba Police station for identification if the description fits any one declared missing.
 
“The body of a man was found in a shallow grave  at a farm close to the defunct Syringe factory in Rumuosi Community.
 
“A farmer who saw the partly buried naked body raised the alarm. The police have moved him to a mortuary and are encouraging those searching for their loved one, who is average in height and in his late 40s or 50s to contact the Choba Police station,” he said.
  
The resident lamented the recent habit of using the defunct factory as a dumping site for dead bodies. He said: “This is the second body found around the defunct factory in the last one month, as the body of a commercial driver was also found in the area on June 12.”
