Anambra State Women Community Leaders (ASWCL) has advocated that the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare should set up a budget line to support victims of harmful traditional practices against women.
The Chairperson of the group, Lady Franca Nwigbo, accompanied by the Secretary, Mrs. Obioma Onyejegbu, stated this, yesterday, in Awka, during the unveiling of Anambra women community ‘Womanifesto’ to the public.

The occasion, attended by the National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), Titus Akpudo, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Obinabo, represented by Mrs. Ngozi Egwuonwu, among other women, was organised by the Civil Rights Concern (CRC) for women leaders in Anambra Central Senatorial zone.
Speaking at the event, Nwigbo noted that the group has made “a clarion call for all Anambra people to end women oppression and marginalisation, expressed through traditional practices and customs.”
