Buhari re-appoints aide who lost APC ticket in Kano
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed his former Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, as Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, confirmed the development in a letter of appointment addressed to Ahmad, dated July 20, 2022.
Mustapha said the appointment took effect from July 19, 2022. Ahmad had resigned as PA to the President, in line with the presidential directive that all political office holders wishing to contest elective office must resign. But he lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket at the primary election for Gaya/Ajingi/Albasu Federal Constituency of Kano State.
He had also protested the manner the primary was conducted, describing the outcome as fraught with fraud. The President’s social media handler is believed to be the only presidential aide ‘recalled’ by Buhari since the conclusion of the APC primaries.
