FTVF seeks collaborative efforts to address hunger, poverty

The Project Accountant, Feed the Vulnerable Families Foundation in Nigeria (FTVF), Alhaji Quadri Animashaun, has urged philanthropic individuals and other like-minded organisations, to join hands with the foundation to feed the most vulnerable in the country.

Speaking at a forum to mark the foundation’s 8th anniversary in Surulere, Lagos, Animashaun noted that the imperative of feeding the needy in the society could not be over emphasised.

Disclosing that though the foundation is founded by a Muslim, he added that FTVF has both Christian and Muslim volunteers in thirty-two states across the country and has been assisting the less privileged, irrespective of religion or tribe.

He stated that as part of the anniversary, donations were made to students of Atunda-Olu School for the physically and mentally challenged, as well as some selected public schools in Lagos.

Alhaji Animashaun further disclosed that FTVF also crowd source funds to help those with life threatening diseases in the country, while the foundation is also focused on mentoring and encouraging Nigerian youths through volunteering.

In an interview with The Guardian, some of the volunteers who came to Lagos from thirty-two states, said the impact of the work done by the organisation over the years have encouraged them to believe that many Nigerians are still interested in the plight of the less privileged.

The volunteers who are in their twenties and early thirties, advised other youths in the country not to turn a blind eye to the plight of the needy while trying to realise their ambitions.

Since July 2014, Feed The Vulnerable Families in Nigeria Foundation has been stretching a helping hand to vulnerable families, as it is no news that around 40 per cent of Nigeria population live in extreme poverty andt struggling to fulfil the most basic needs like health, education, and access toa wter and sanitation.

The foundation is also assisting the needy through provision of water in indigent communities, relief and medical emergencies to families affected by natural disasters and insecurity, food donations, support to widows, qualitative education for orphans, financial support and medical care to individuals with minor and major health concerns, as well as provision of educational materials to students in rural areas.
