Kachikwu, who spoke during the Annual General Conference (AGC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos, said it is unfortunate the situation has led to the closure of schools in Abuja and parts of the north of the country.
He said the fact that the unfortunate development occurred in Abuja, where President Muhammadu Buhari lives, calls for concern.
He wondered what part of Nigeria could be considered safe since the seat of government appears beset by insecurity.
He said the nation needs to focus on strategic exports to boost dollar earnings. He also gave examples of how legal, engineering, architectural and other services could be sold on the Internet to people all over the world.
Kachikwu referred to his All Progressives Congress counterpart, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a great grandfather. He also called the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, as grandfather and father, respectively.
He insisted that if the panel session on Democratic Transitions in 21st Century Nigeria went on for another five hours, the other candidates would not be able to proffer any solution to issues plaguing the nation.
“They cannot give what they don’t have,” he declared, according to a statement by the media office of his presidential campaign organisation.
He called on Nigerians to emulate the NBA and boldly go in a different direction in next year’s general election, even as the NBA did by electing the young Olumide Akpata as president two years ago and has reaped the rewards of youthful innovation.
