The sit at home order called by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) yesterday against the continued detention of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu and other pro-Biafra agitators failed in Enugu as residents went about their lawful duties. Public offices, schools and markets were opened as early as 8.00a.m. yesterday as residents who had one thing or the other to do trooped out to their different locations.

Although the two major markets in Enugu, the Ogbete main market and New market were opened, several of the stalls and shops in them remained under lock and key as residents who went there could not purchase all they wanted, especially from the closed shops.

But armed policemen and soldiers took positions in strategic junctions around the state capital, apparently to forestall any possible breakdown of law and order.In a statement, however, leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Uchenna Madu commended members of the group who complied with the call, stressing that it was in the general interest of Biafra.

“MASSOB gladly salutes the  people of Biafra for their love, confidence and trust bestowed on IPOB, MASSOB and other Biafra agitating groups, the effect of today’s civil disobedience further proved that MASSOB and  IPOB are major factors to be reckon with in
the affairs of Ndigbo and Nigeria in general”, he said.

He stated that the demand for the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Benjamin Onwuka, Chidiebere Onwudiwe and other
detained pro-Biafra agitators in Nigerian prisons mostly in Onitsha and Awka would continue to dominate the agenda of the group.

“The more these Biafran Jews are detained, Nigeria will continue to experience economic, political and diplomatic phenomenon that always cripple her system of existence. We see the heavy downpour that crippled scanty activities in Onitsha as a divine intervention and endorsement by God.  MASSOB warned that soon Nigeria will start experiencing the horrors of God’s wrath because of her persecution,killings, marginalisation and dishonouring of the Biafran Jews”, he stated.

Meanwhile, an Enugu-based prophet, Anthony Nwoke, said yesterday that the objective of establishing Biafra had already been realised as “Biafra has come to be.”In a message entitled, “Spiritual Message for the State of Biafra Nation and why Nigeria is facing problems”, Prophet Nwoke stated that Nigeria as a nation was a ‘fraud’ by colonial masters and was doomed to crash, warning that it is in the interest of political leaders to
plan for peaceful separation.”

He warned religious personalities and “big churches” to stop deceiving the unsuspecting citizens with fake prophecies and lies, saying that the judgment of God would soon come down on them for using the vineyard of the Lord to enrich themselves.
