Adebowale, who described it as a great honour to assume the office, appreciated the immediate Past President, Queen Chinwe Amankwe, for setting the pace and lauded members of the club for believing in her and agreed to work together as a team.
The President, prior to her elevation, was the membership Chair during the tenure of the immediate past president and was also the Committee Chair during the District Governor’s visit.
Adebowale, who said the essence of her presidency centres on the club putting smiles on the faces of the needy and the less privileged, itemised some of the projects to be carried out during her tenure to include visiting some orphanages, empower widows, and assist outstanding students in public secondary schools, among others.
She named her star project as the adoption of Anwar ul islam Primary School, Ogba.
“We intend to do a lot for the school ranging from fixing the school gate, helping the girl child by vaccinating 50 children and provide school shoes for the pupils.
“I was in tears during our visit to the school, seeing a pupil wearing two different shoes to school which exposed the level of poverty at this age in a school in Lagos. I felt very sad. We will do our best for the pupils to revive their memories,” she said.
She promised that her club would not be backward in contributing to Rotary Foundation, District Educational and Welfare Endowment Fund (DEWEF), sponsorship of students to Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), contribute to polio eradication, supply wheel chairs to the District and thrive in membership development.
Adebowale, who appreciated the contributions of Rotarians and friends during the fundraising despite the economic challenges, wishes to be remembered as a woman and a mother that concentrated on putting smiles on the faces of the needy and the less privileged.
