The Lagos State government has disclosed that it has directed the prompt investigation of the cause of the collapse of a building on 2/4 Oye Sonuga Street, Plamgrove, Mushin, yesterday afternoon.

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins, who spoke at the scene of the incident, explained that it was a partial collapse of an old four-floor building.

He stated that while moves were on to determine the cause of the collapse, he directed that the adjoining building be pulled down for safety reasons.

The Commissioner said the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and the Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory had been directed to swing into action to unravel the cause of the collapse while the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency had since commenced rescue operations.
