An unidentified man from Bokkos Local Council of Plateau State died on Tuesday, after allegedly taking nine bottles of locally brewed beer called “Ogogoro”.

Woman leader of Conflict Mediation Mitigation Regional Council (CMMRC) Plateau Chapter, Hafsat Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, said the unidentified man had asked the seller of the local gin to give him 11 bottles and swore that he would finish it without an embarrassing incident.

Abubakar, who gave the details of what transpired at the drinking joint, told The Guardian that the man succeeded in taking nine bottles, but could not continue with the remaining two bottles.

She said: “The man immediately gave up the ghost while the seller packed up her wares and took to her heels.
“ Before the man died, he was vomiting blood profusely from his nose, ears and mouth.

“A hunter who was passing by was shocked at the sight of the dead man and alerted the villagers who took him for burial.

“The deceased was said to have a wife and five children.”

MEANWHILE, Plateau State Police Command’s spokesperson, Alfred Alabo could not be reached for comment, but a senior police officer responded rather casually that there is no law banning consumption of alcohol in the country.
