Blaqbonez blazes trail with Back in Uni
One might know him as one of the funniest people on the Internet. Other people might know him as one of the most stylish. Some others might know him as one of the most captivating lyricists within the Nigerian music industry. In every sense of the word, Emeka Akumefule is one of the most intentional artistes within the music industry.
After creating a highly-marketable brand with his last project, Sex Over Love, the Chocolate City rapper and singer is set to return with another compilation project dubbed, Young Preacher. The ‘Young Preacher’ has now stepped out with a slice of what to expect in the album with his nostalgic bop dubbed, Back In Uni.
In Back in Uni, Blaqbonez joins forces with the renowned British-Ghanain producer Jae5 to reignite his artistry as one of Africa’s leading rappers and singers. While Blaqbonez continues his playboy narrative on this song, the art direction and A&R for the record, including its title, reflects his originality.
According to Blaqbonez, his first set of hardcore fans was 15 schoolmates who lived within the same hostel in his university campus.
The percussion-heavy bop soars for its catchy hook, as Blaqbonez chants “All the hearts I broke in Lekki, Only God fit protect me.” Overall, it flourishes with a heavy replay value, and high energies as typical of a Blaqbonez record.
Back In Uni is out on all streaming platforms. Young Preacher would be out on October 28.
