Motorists and commuters were yesterday, stranded for many hours in parts of Lagos, as Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo mobilised a rally in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The rally, which took off from Teslim Balogun through Funsho Williams Avenue connected Ikorodu road to Oshodi by Anthony Bus Stop. From Anthony Bus Stop by Theodolite- GT Bank, the supporters connected Anthony Bridge and terminated at the Oshodi-Isolo area of Lagos.

Consequently, motorists plying the routes spent hours in traffic as the crowd took over major parts of the road, singing solidarity songs for the APC presidential candidate.

MC Oluomo had explained that the rally was to shore up support for the party and the Lagos State Governor Bababjide Sanwo-Olu’s re-election bid and that of his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.

Ahead of the rally, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) announced traffic diversions.
MEANWHILE, traders who are selling by the roadside yesterday lamented extortion to support the rally.

One of the traders who spoke with The Guardian said: “We were forced to contribute a pack of bottled water each to support the walk.”
