The federal high court sitting in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, yesterday, barred the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), from fielding a governorship candidate for forthcoming general elections.
In his ruling, Justice Abdullahi Anka, said the party failed to comply with the party’s constitution and guidelines, Electoral Act and the laws of Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) during the purported primary election.
The court ordered Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binanni to stop parading herself as the governorship candidate of APC in the state.
The former Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, who was an aspirant in the APC governorship primary election is challenging the declaration of Binanni as the winner of the primary election conducted on May 27, 2022.
The presiding judge, who cited election malpractices, noted that evidences before the court provided the allegations of malpractices.
