The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in Ogun State, Olufemi Oguntoyinbo has boasted of emerging as the winner of the governorship election in the forthcoming 2023 election.
Oguntoyinbo also disclosed that the party will soon launch its campaign in the state.

Oguntoyinbo made this known on Sunday in celebration of the International Day to End Impunity for Crime Against Journalists held in Iwe-Iroyin, Abeokuta, the state capital.
“The timetable is on the ground, and by the grace of God, we are going to release the timetable and begin ward-to ward tour to meet people in their various communities to show ourselves as the new governorship candidate in Ogun State.
“We are taking over. No negotiation in that. We have all that it takes to take over.”
The event, themed; “2023: Safety of the press – before, during and after” was to discuss issues relating to elections.

Speaking on the theme of the event, Oguntoyinbo advised journalists to be accurate in their reporting.
His words: “At the same time, journalists need to be careful in the area where they would not go wrong in terms of libel or defamation of character in the sense that the person you’re writing about will go against your write-up.”
However, personalities were also conferred with awards in recognition of their good relationships with journalists in the state.
The awardees include; Olubamiro Abdul, Directorate of the year; Oluwatosin Jiboku, Patron, Nigeria Union of Journalists; Tukur Muhammed, Safety and Environmentalist of the year and the journalist-most-friendly-politician of the year, Sunday Oginni.
Addressing newsmen, Oginni dedicated the award to Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo and his running mate Alhaja Shakirat Idris Arowolo.
He condemned the disregard some political officer holders have for journalists, saying all politicians are made by the media.
Oginni said, “There is no celebrity in Nigeria that is not the media that produce that celebrity. Some people may not have the opportunity in their daytime to ever see Obasanjo or Buhari or Kwankwasu. But they will start to see them on television as a result of journalism.”
He however called for the protection of journalists, adding that, “the problem of this country, I want to say it’s the media that can solve them.”
