The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Niger State wing, has expressed displeasure with state government for failure to promote its members across the state since 2018.
The Chairman of Niger NUT, Adamu Yakoyago, gave the hint during a one-day induction course for state and council members of the union, held at Teachers House in Minna, at the weekend.
Yakoyago, who lamented the insensitivity of the state government towards the welfare of teachers, said his numbers have been without promotion, and those promoted have not enjoyed the full benefits.
“Our teachers were, sometime this year, paid salary on percentage, the situation which caused not only untold hardship to our members, but also crippled activities in teaching and learning in our schools,” Yakoyago said.
The NUT Chairman further explained that the induction course, organised for NUT officials, was aimed at reaching members with the general knowledge of the union activities, adding that one cardinal objective of the induction course is to update members on current leadership styles, and procedures to ensure better working understanding between employee’s and employers.
