Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has again cried out over the attack and killing of indigenes by terrorists, saying that death toll has risen to 38.

According to a statement by the spokesman of SOKAPU, Luka Binniyat, death toll is increasing, as bushes in the communities are being combed for bodies of those killed by armed militia.

Binniyat stated: “It is with heavy heart and deep sense of loss that we announce the gruesome murder of not less than 38 harmless, unarmed villagers in Malagum 1 and Abun (Broni Prono) villages, Kaura Local Council in Southern Kaduna.

“The killings started around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday night simultaneously and lasted for hours. Not only were the poor innocent citizens killed, not less than 100 houses were razed with some victims burnt alive. At the time of releasing this statement, volunteers are still combing surrounding bushes in search of missing persons and more bodies.”

According to him, the villagers had noticed the gathering of strange herdsmen from different directions on motorcycles to set camp in a nearby bush some days back.

MEANWHILE, the Christian of Nigeria Association (CAN), Kaduna State chapter, has lamented the renewed terrorists’ activities in Southern Kaduna communities, faulting the claims by the military that the bandits have been neutralised.

The Chairman, Rev. Joseph Hayab, said, at the weekend, that terrorists invaded parts of Southern Kaduna, killing 28 people while others sustained injuries, in the latest attack, pointing out that the aim of the bandits was to instil fear in the citizens not to come out and perform their civic duties in the 2023 general elections.

Hayab stated, yesterday, in Kaduna: “CAN Kaduna chapter, is mourning the death of over 28 innocent defenceless people of the Mallagum community in Kagoro area, who were brutally slaughtered last night.

“This massacre has further proven that the killers of the Southern Kaduna people have not yet been neutralised as claimed. The Federal Government and security agencies must not let the killers escape.”

PRESIDENTIAL candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has assured the people of Southern Kaduna of maximum security, if elected in 2023.

Atiku stated this during the 60th birthday anniversary of Apostle Emmanuel Kure, the Vision Pioneer of Throneroom (Trust) Ministry in Kafachan, the headquarters of Jema’a Local Council.

The PDP flagbearer said he was in Southern Kaduna to celebrate with Kure and to commiserate with the people of Southern Kaduna on the recent killings in the area.

He explained: “All the geopolitical zones have security challenges. We have to look at the holistic approach to bring about peaceful coexistence among all inhabitants of this country.”

NIGER State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, has commended the commander and men of 271 Nigeria Air Force Detachment for rescuing seven Chinese nationals abducted at Ajata Aboki community of Shiroro Local Council in June.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Emmanuel Umar, stated that the governor specifically applauded the inspirational leadership style of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, under whose command the NAF continued to record tremendous successes in its operations nationwide, including the successful rescue of Chinese nationals in Kampanin Doka and Gwaska areas of Birnin Gwari Local Council, Kaduna State.
