Poised to impact faith-based wisdom, ensure that more families enjoy marital bliss across the world following the rate of broken homes and divorces ravaging societies, an Indian Evangelist, writer and author, Evans Francis is set to change lives.
Also driven by personal and challenging experiences, the 33-year-old recently launched ‘Courtship to Marriage’, a seven-hour pre-martial course designed for those who haven’t found a potential spouse but want to know how to enjoy a fruitful marriage. The time paced programme includes 16 lessons that students can work through at their pace.
This pre-marital course teaches students what traits to look for in a partner, how to navigate some of the most common problems that happen in marriages; how to communicate and navigate through difficult times; how to manage expectations and how to foster problem-solving skills.
For Francis, the course backed by a 30-day money back guarantee, includes units on Biblical courtship, whether or not a believer and an unbeliever can experience spiritual intimacy; six ways to prepare for marriage; the roles of mentors, pastors, and parents in courtship; what not to do in courtship; and more. ‘Courtship to Marriage’ also includes one-on-one counseling with Francis to help cope with stress and anxiety related to courtship and marriage.
According to the evangelist and marriage counsellor, Jesus’ ministry started with a wedding in Cana, and his ministry began with a broken family. “However, God used me to guide them properly with the help of the holy spirit and still, they are together in the Lord as a family. In sixteen years of full-time ministry, I saw marriages getting broken. Both my sisters’ weddings ended in a big disaster. I saw my sisters go through that trauma. I never wish any brother or parents had to go through it. The most heartbreaking incident was when one marriage was broken, which I solemnised. With the shortage of time, I can’t counsel everyone, but this course will guide youngsters forever.”
He stressed that a recurring factor in failed marriages over the years is largely lack of knowledge. “People think marriage means sex but that’s not true. As a person prepares himself for his career, it’s the same way he needs to prepare for marital life. Secondly, wrong teaching in the church, culture and cults; when people make their feelings rules, it destroys marriages. Every couple needs the help of the Holy Spirit to have a successful married life.
“Thirdly, lack of seriousness from the leaders in the church. As a result, churches greatly overlook preparing their youths for marriages. A church will be stronger when it has stronger marriages.”
While noting that lack of knowledge destroys God’s plan for our lives, Francis opines that the more knowledge you have, the easier it is to enjoy marital bliss. To enjoy the first institution established by God Himself, people need to prepare, and this course can help them a lot.
Even as the course cuts across continents including Africa and in context, Nigeria, Francis noted that marriages inside the church are breaking at a very high rate. Nigeria is no exception adding that many myths will be destroyed through this course.
While the church plays a key role in nuptials, the evangelist advocates investing in mentoring youngsters, “I recommend investing time in youngsters. The greatest attack in the end days is Christian marriages, especially marriages of servants of God. Without proper class, no one should be allowed to marry. They need to prepare themselves before they say ‘I Do’.
“Capable youth leaders with whom youngsters can relate should be there who can counsel and guide them at all times. Above all, taking decisions wisely should be taught, not just what somebody said and you believed and married and destroy your marriage. Test everything with the knowledge God blessed has you with”, he added.
Married to his wife, Neha, in 2017, together, they are spreading the Gospel and traveling the world. Now, Francis is imparting his faith-based wisdom through the ‘Courtship to Marriage’ course.
