One dies, others injured in Otedola bridge auto crash

One person died, while others were injured yesterday, following an auto-crash involving a commercial bus marked KJA 364 YA at Otedola Bridge, along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
   
The accident, which occurred at about 5:00p.m., had the driver of the commercial bus and 12 passengers trapped.  Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Adebayo Taofiq, said the victims were trapped inside the bus when the driver  ran into a petrol tanker by Secretariat before Oando Filling Station inward Otedola Bridge, Lagos.
     
According to him,  LASTMA operatives rescued 12 victims  trapped inside the commercial bus that ran into a petrol tanker. He said investigation revealed that the commercial bus had a brake failure and ran into a tanker while on motion by Otedola Bridge.
   
“One of the victims died instantly while others were handed over to Medical personnel (Emergency Responder) who came to the accident scene by LASTMA Officials,” he said.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of LASTMA, Bolaji Oreagba, has warned motorists,  particularly commercial bus drivers to always ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on any journey within or outside the state.
