The United States (U.S.) Consulate General has conveyed its “deepest sympathy” to The Guardian, following the death of its award-winning photojournalist, Mr. Femi Adebesin Kuti.

In a condolence letter, Public Affairs Officer, Joe Kruzich, on behalf of the Consulate General, wrote: “I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of your photo editor, Mr. Femi Adebesin-Kuti. We share your grief at this very difficult time.

“An experienced and notable photojournalist, Mr. Femi Adebesin-Kuti communicated news through photographs and demonstrated a knack for capturing decisive and historic moments in the U.S – Nigeria bilateral relationship. With his natural warmth, he was always an encouraging presence wherever he was.”

“Mr. Femi Adebesin-Kuti will be dearly missed by friends, families, close associates, and indeed the Nigerian media.”
