Alleged fake policeman arrested

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 54-year-old man for allegedly impersonating a police sergeant.Operatives of the Dopemu Police Station apprehended the suspect, one James Ogbaji.
A source told The Guardian that the suspect has been defrauding members of the public with his fake uniform.It was gathered that ‘whistle blowers’ had hinted the police about his nefarious activities.
The police had swooped on Ogbaji immediately they received intelligence on his illicit activities.According to police image-maker in the state, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police (SP), the suspect was arrested wearing a police uniform with a sergeant rank in the early hours of Saturday.
“He was parading himself as a serving member of the Nigeria Police Force. Investigations revealed that the fake policeman recruited himself and posted himself as escort to one Baba Alaye in Atan, Ogun State.
“The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni is advising members of the public to be wary of impersonators, who usually defraud members of the public under the guise of being police officers. He directed that the suspect be charged to court immediately.”
