Bayelsa orders illegal occupants of school premises to vacate

The Bayelsa State government, at the weekend, threatened to arrest and prosecute occupants of the original site of Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, Yenagoa, if they failed to comply with the eviction order.

The government said the school was expected to commence movement to its original site yesterday.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Education, Deacon Markson Fefegha, called on the workers and students to commence movement to its original site, as directed by the government.

Blaming the delay of the relocation of the school to its original site on the activities of illegal occupants, the commissioner warned trespassers to vacate the premises or incur the wrath of the law.

The statement read: “All illegal occupants of buildings in the premises of BDGS, Yenagoa, are by this statement, advised to vacate the premises on or before Sunday, October 23, 2016, as the State Ministry of Education has served enough notice. ”

The statement disclosed that government would be compelled to invite the law enforcement agencies to effect the arrest and prosecution of all illegal occupants that would be found thereafter.”
