Women entrepreneurs, who are members of the NECA’s Network of Entrepreneurial Women, have been advised to seek wealth-creating opportunities to secure their future.

During its 2016 NNEW Summit in Lagos, successful business owners and seasoned speakers charged women not to delay their dreams of establishing their businesses or expanding existing ones.

In her keynote address, the Chief Executive Officer, ENL Consortium, Dr. Vicky Haastrup, emphasised the need for women to be hardworking, enterprising and to plan for their lives.

While narrating her grass to grace story, she said that hard work, determination, strategic planning and a sense of purpose helped her achieve success. She said: “Your dream leads you to think. Ask yourself questions. What am I looking forward to in the future? What are the tools needed to achieve goal?

How do I get there?
“Identify the right goals, develop your written plans, and through them, create a strategy for your life. Create a path, don’t leave anything to chance and don’t overlook minute details. Don’t wait for too long because the longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to start.”

In her welcome address, the President, NNEW, Modupe Oyekunle, said the conference was part of NNEW’s efforts aimed at equipping women with the right kind of information that would prepare and empower them to take specific steps towards planning their future.

She stated: “The theme, ‘Own your future’ comes at no better time than now when the state of the economy is not friendly to business owners. But in order to keep their products and brands in the market, they need to think outside box and also be ready to embrace the use of local product rather than relying on importation.”

She urged other women to get involve in doing businesses in other to help get the country out of recession. While delivering his goodwill message, the Director-General, NECA, Mr. Olusegun Oshinowo, encouraged the women to take up opportunities that would help them to own their future.

“One of the lessons I could pick from NNEW’s milestones is that our sojourn on earth is to solve problems. Problem comes in different sizes: micro, small and large. If you want to live a life of purpose, you have to break out of your limitation. We want to raise as many women away from poverty and make them flourish. We want you to come up every year with initiatives that will better the lives of women,” he said.
