Over 300,000 PVCs uncollected in Ondo, says INEC

Eight days to the general election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that no fewer than 303,955 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were yet to be collected in Ondo State.

According to the electoral body, the figure is out of 1,991,344 registered voters in the state.

Administrative Secretary of INEC in the state, Mr. Oyelami Oludayo, revealed at a stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, yesterday, that 1,687,389 voters collected their PVCs.

Oludayo said the electoral body was committed to the conduct of credible elections for sustainable democracy in the country.

He said the consequences of failure were too grave to contemplate, adding that everything would be given to ensure a smooth process.

His words: “The commission is ready and determined, more than ever, to conduct a credible and acceptable general elections. We expect the political parties and candidates to abide by the provisions of the law, INEC’s regulations and guidelines, as well as their own constitutions and guidelines.

“Civil society organisations are deploying observers of high integrity and impeccable character to observe the elections across the state.”
