
LP won with 179,917 votes against APC’s 130,520 and PDP’s 95,425 votes.
The results were announced about 1 a.m., yesterday, by the State Collation Officer, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, at the state Collation Centre.
In Asaba, Obi was declared the winner of the presidential contest conducted across 25 councils of Delta State with 341,866 votes.
He was followed by the PDP’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who garnered 161,600 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu, polled 90,183 votes to emerge third.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Ownari Abraham Gorgewill, of the University of Port Harcourt, while announcing the results at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) state office in Asaba at 12:40p.m., yesterday, said the number of registered voters was 3,225,046; accredited voters, 667,149; total valid votes, 615,341; rejected votes, 39,309 and total votes cast, 654,650.
The results were endorsed by party agents in the presence of security personnel, observers and monitors.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Mr. Monday Udoh Tom, commended electoral officers, security personnel and others, who “were in the field during the election and worked under tough and rough scenario, but still delivered on their mandate.”
Meanwhile, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, lost his ward, council and senatorial district to LP.
Obaseki, a ranking member of the PDP, had vowed to deliver the state for the PDP.
But the PDP and the APC lost by a wide margin to LP candidates.
In the results, declared by INEC returning officer, Prof. A. Obasuyi, Mr. Neda Imasuen of LP emerged winner in Obaseki’s Edo South Senatorial district.
According to the returning officer, Imasuen emerged winner, haven polled 167,250 votes to defeat candidates of APC and PDP, who scored 57,933 and 61,749, respectively.
LP candidate, Mr. Iyawe Eseosa, also won Oredo Federal Constituency seat.
The victory indicated that Eseosa of LP would represent Obaseki at the House of Representatives.
