“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness,” (Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV).
Every child of God enjoys the favour of God, the only difference is that some seem to enjoy it more. Staying constantly in God’s favour should be the desire of every child of God. Nothing like being a favoured child of God. John appreciates the unique place of God’s favoured children when he wrote, “See what an incredible quality of love the Father has shown to us, that we would (be permitted to) be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him,” (1 John 3:1 AMP).
Seasons of life may change, but those who walk according to the principles of God’s word remain in God’s favour, no matter the season. Adam and Eve were created to live in God’s favour. As long as they lived in obedience they enjoyed God’s favour. Once they disobeyed God they fell out of his favour. However, when they sinned, God in his mercy restored them to the place of favour when he made “tunics of skin and clothed them.” God eventually sent them out of the Garden of Eden to till the ground.
God’s anger is for a moment, but his favour is for life (Psalm 30:5). God said to Israel in her captivity, “For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with great compassion I will take you back. In a burst of anger I turned my face away for a little while. But with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord, your Redeemer…. For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you,” (Isaiah 54:7-10 NLT). God’s anger towards his children never lasts forever. He is always eager to restore us to his favour.
To stay in God’s favour, we must live a holy life. “But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children,” (Psalms 103:17 NKJV). The fear of the Lord is the very bedrock of enjoying the favour of God.
Humility attracts the presence of God. God loves the humble. To stay in God’s favour, we must be humble. Proverb 3:34 reads, “Though He scoffs at the scoffers and scorns the scorners, Yet He gives His grace (His undeserved favor) to the humble (those who give up self-importance),” (AMP). Any form of pride negates divine favour.
To stay in favour with God, you must be consistent in your relationship with him. The late Kennet Hagin Snr. said, “There is power in consistency.” Consistency could be measured in two ways. First, how regular one reads and meditates on the word of God and second, how regular, we are in our prayer life.
To constantly enjoy the favour of God, we must be prayerful. When the disciples prayed in Acts 4:33, we read that, “great grace came upon them all.” The word, “great grace” is synonymous with divine favour. Think about the weight of the phrase, “great grace came upon them all.” That means all of the disciples, both weak and strong, tall and short, men, women, youth and children, received great favour. We can all receive and enjoy God’s great favour. Contact:[email protected]
