
Invoking Section 7 of the Local Government Law, the governor had appealed to the lawmakers to grant the extension.The Guardian learnt that the development was becoming a norm at that tier of government as similar approvals had been granted in the recent past during the lifespan of the last administration in the state.
The council chiefs with political ambition were, however, advised to resign 30 days before the polls. The advice became imperative following a motion moved by the member representing Ngoroge constituency, Bishir Mohammed.
The Speaker, Peter Abel Diah, subsequently directed the Clerk of the House to furnish the governor with its decision.He, however, emphasised that the extension was the last for the beneficiaries.
