Lagos State Parks and Garages Administrators (LASPGA) has told the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) that the National Industrial Court (NICN) judgment of April 18, 2023, does not in any way affect its legality and operations.
Secretary of LASPGA, Abdulrahman Amusan, made the clarification in a statement on Tuesday.
He said the clarification was in response to reports credited to RTEAN calling on the Lagos State Government to obey the court ruling and approve its reinstatement.
Amusan said the formation and existence of LASPGA ad-hoc committee was never in dispute before the court and was not also a party to the suit.
He said that LASPGA is charged with computation, and collection of revenue on behalf of the state government from the state transport sector and that role was never in dispute.
He said: It is important to reiterate that in the said suit which culminated into the declarative orders, the formation, existence and operations of LASPGA (ad-hoc) committee was never an issue before the court.”
He, therefore, emphasised that since the court judgment does not in any way affect LASPGA, the ad-hoc committee is still in operations and answerable only to the state government.
