2023: U-20 World Cup: We know how to handle Brazil, Flying Eagles coach Bosso
Head coach of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles Ladan Bosso has said he knows how to handle Brazil in Saturday’s final Group D game at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Brazil.
The Flying Eagles qualified for round 16 of the World Cup after a 2-0 win against Italy in their second Group D game.
Brazil bounced back from a 3-2 loss to Italy by hammering Dominican Republic 6-0.
In five previous meetings at the U-20 World Cup, the Flying Eagles are yet to record a win against Brazil, suffering four defeats and managing just one draw.
However, Bosso is confident that with the knowledge he has about the Brazilians, there is no cause to be afraid.
“Having watched Brazilian play, I think we know how to handle them but I will consider giving the other players who have yet to feature in our two games an opportunity to showcase themselves.”
Reflecting on the win against Italy, Bosso said it has boosted the confidence of his players for the rest of the tournament.
“It’s massive beating Italy that defeated highly rated Brazil 3-2 by two unreplied goals and that gives me the confidence that boys, most of whom are debuting at such a big stage for the first time are now ready to give the world cup a real go.”
He said he believes his players will get better and assured Nigerians they will try to meet their expectations.
